With the presidency comes responsibility
Is President Obama responsible for anything that happens in his administration? Benghazi, Fast and Furious, release of illegal aliens — he claims innocence because he didn’t know. Not good.
I learned early in my business career that along with the title of manager, supervisor or even president comes the responsibility for everything that happens within your department or company. It’s called functional responsibility. I would expect this concept to apply to the president of the United States.
Please don’t start with the argument that the government can’t be compared to a large company. It takes in revenues to pay for various services it provides. Enough said.
In Obama’s not-my-fault speech, he explains sequestration: “None of this is necessary. It’s happening because of a choice that Republicans in Congress have made.” In reality, Democrats share equal blame because of a choice they made to hold the country hostage until they get a tax increase.
He was right there, however, when the Navy SEALS found Osama bin Laden. Is it just me, or is there a trend here?
The campaign is over. Obama should start acting like the president.
By the way 51.06 percent is not a mandate.

Reduce the impact on Huff Lane neighbors
Re: “What should follow the sale of Huff Lane,” March 4 editorial:
The city of Roanoke and Round Hill residents should sit down with developers to detail all of their concerns and get a firm commitment that all issues will be executed or face monetary fines.
The community can give factual accounts of how the last two expansions around Valley View Mall created negative impacts to their general well-being.
More foot traffic through the community, more street noises, more midnight Dumpster dumping and parking lot vacuuming and a diminished view of our surrounding mountains are some of the negative impacts that need to be addressed
Compliance by the city and cooperation by the developers is expected, but the community does not trust either party because of previous history of listening to Huff Lane/Round Hill residents.
