So he’s a job-killing, woman-hating, law-skirting, gift-taking scoundrel?

Barring the truly bizarre, come January, Virginia will be saddled for the next four years with either Republican Ken Cuccinelli or Democrat Terry McAuliffe as governor.
So far we know this: Neither is worthy of the office. Each candidate has spent much of the campaign shouting about his opponent’s dirty laundry as if raising the volume acts as a rinse cycle for his own muddy messes. Then, with the next breath, each candidate complains he alone wants to talk issues.
But given an opportunity to do just that, such as last week’s Consumer Energy Alliance forum where McAuliffe and Cuccinelli could present their energy plans, they blew it, choosing yet again smear over substance.
Enough already! Monday marked the traditional start to the campaign season. There are but two months left for either candidate to convince voters why they should vote for him. Time to step away from the mud buckets. Otherwise, even the victor will be too stained to effectively govern.
