Helen Hickman Stiff, 87, of Roanoke, died on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at her home, after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Grace Hickman; also sister, Mildred Crouch; and brothers, Frank Jr. and Robert Hickman. After graduation from William Fleming High School, she attended Ruth Cornett School of Business and then went on to become secretary in the regional office of the Veterans Administration in Roanoke.

She is survived by her husband, Carson P. Stiff, Jr. (Pete); children, April Elizabeth Stiff and Carson P. Stiff III (Chip); also grandchildren, Jordan Elizabeth Long and Joshua Edward Long and fiancée April Daniel; and great- granddaughter, Carson Elizabeth Long.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014 at Oakey's North Chapel, with the Rev. Jeff Wilson officiating. The interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, please make your contributions to your favorite charity.

The family would like to give special thanks to the people of Good Samaritan Hospice and special thanks to Dr. Richard Konstance and staff for their loving care and support.
