Roanoke.com won top honors Friday in a national interactive media contest sponsored by Editor & Publisher and Mediaweek magazines.

The site, which was redesigned this spring, was named Best Overall Newspaper-Affiliated Internet Service in the category serving less than 1 million unique monthly visitors.

Roanoke.com is the Web site of The Roanoke Times.

Other finalists for the award known as The Eppy were HeraldTribune.com, affiliated with the Sarasota (Fla.) Herald-Tribune, and PilotOnline.com/HamptonRoads.com/HamptonRoads.tv, affiliated with Norfolk's Virginian Pilot.
