Woman gets $25,000 bond on charges related to deadly 1-vehicle accident

A Bedford County woman jailed on charges of aggravated involuntary manslaughter and misdemeanor driving under the influence received a $25,000 bond Tuesday in Bedford County Circuit Court.

On Wednesday, Tabetha Jean Gregory, 35, of Goode remained in Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Bedford.

The charges stem from an Oct. 2 single-vehicle wreck in which Mark Floyd, 39, of Bedford County was killed. Floyd was a passenger in a pickup truck driven by Gregory, said Assistant Bedford County Commonwealth's Attorney Georgianna Thomas.

The wreck happened on Blackwater Road, near U.S. 460, Thomas said. The truck was headed south from the highway, toward Gregory's home, when it overturned and flipped several times. Both Gregory and Floyd were thrown from the truck, Thomas said. Floyd died from a head injury, the prosecutor said.

A blood-alcohol test showed Gregory had a blood-alcohol content of 0.18 percent, more than twice the legal limit, Thomas said. Gregory's trial is scheduled for June 13.
