A man was found dead Thursday morning in a yard in the 400 block of Liberty Road, but Roanoke police said they did not suspect anything criminal was connected to his death.

Police department spokeswoman Aisha Johnson said a neighbor to the property where the man was found called police at 6:46 a.m. Officers found the man's body near Liberty Road.

They took him to the medical examiner, who will officially determine the cause of death. Johnson said initial indications are that the incident "does not appear to be criminal in nature."

She said officers were contacting the man's family.
