Roanoke County police officers found a decomposing body near Franklin and Electric roads early Monday night and are working to determine identity and a cause of death.

Officers received a call about 6 p.m. to a wooded area southeast of the intersection, where they found a man's body, said Detective J.L. McNeill. He would not specify what the man was wearing or whether there were any objects near him.

"He looked like he had been there for a while," McNeill said.

The body was taken to the medical examiner's office to determine an identity and cause of death. Anyone with information about the man is asked to call police at 777-8641.
