Pair arrested following strong-arm robbery in Northwest Roanoke
Two men have been arrested and charged with a strong-arm robbery that occurred Tuesday night in Northwest Roanoke.
Denzel Ortiz Jones, 19, and Kenneth Cory Wilkins, 21, both of Roanoke, were apprehended the same evening, about a block away from the alleged robbery, according to police spokeswoman Aisha Johnson.
Officers responded just after 10 p.m. to the 800 block of Hunt Avenue, where a 32-year-old man said he was assaulted by two men who robbed him. He told police that one of the men held a gun on him while the other took his coat.
Police have not identified the item that was taken, and Johnson said the man did not require medical treatment.
Johnson said officers following a tip later located the two men at a residence in the 900 block of Hunt Avenue. Both Jones and Wilkins were arrested and charged with one count of robbery and one count of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
