Governor set to appear at Radford University ceremony
Radford University has announced its first visit by Gov. Bob McDonnell.
McDonnell is scheduled to appear with Radford President Penelope Kyle at the school's Charter Day celebration, set for 11 a.m. March 24 at the Dedmon Center. A reception will follow, and the public is invited.
The Charter Day event is part of Radford's yearlong centennial celebration and will mark the signing of the charter that created the State Normal and Industrial School for Women at Radford in 1910. The school became Radford University in 1979.
Former Gov. Tim Kaine visited Radford five times between 2005 and 2009, including giving the school's 2009 commencement speech and receiving an honorary degree Doctor of Letters.
