Authorities said Tuesday that they have charged a Bedford man with attempting to download child pornography -- on a public library computer.

Mark W. Reynolds, 46, was jailed, as of Tuesday afternoon, on a $5,000 bond.

Maj. Ricky Gardner of the Bedford County Sheriff's Office said employees of the Bedford library called Feb. 25 to report that a man had been seen looking at possible child pornography on a library computer available for public use. The man left before authorities arrived.

However, according to Gardner, the man returned the next day. Gardner said investigators were called back to the library, where they saw the man, later identified as Reynolds, attempting to download child pornography.
