Roanoke man says he was shot by intruder
A 20-year-old man was shot late Saturday night, and he told Roanoke police that he was assaulted in an apartment on Day Avenue.
Terrance Alexander Cannon of Roanoke was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital about 11:45 p.m. Saturday, Roanoke Police Department spokeswoman Aisha Johnson said. There was no information available about Cannon at the hospital Monday afternoon, a hospital spokesman said.
Cannon was with three other people in an apartment in the 500 block of Day Avenue Southwest when a man about 6 feet 2 inches tall who weighed approximately 260 pounds, wearing black pants and jacket and a scarf over his face, entered and demanded money, Johnson said.
Cannon gave the man money, but was shot anyway, Johnson said. Cannon was taken by "an associate" to the hospital, where police found him, Johnson said.
No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 853-5959 or Crime Line at 344-8500. Crime Line may offer a reward for information leading to an arrest.
