N.C. man found shot in crashed car in Henry Co.
A 22-year-old man was found shot to death inside a car off a country road about a 10 miles southeast of Martinsville on Tuesday afternoon.
Deputies responded to a car crash at Hobson and Irisburg roads in the Irisburg area about 2:30 p.m., the Henry County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
They found a white 2009 Chevrolet Impala over an embankment, and inside was Akoreon JaJuantez "AJ" Murphy, of Eden, N.C., who had been fatally shot.
Demarcus LaVon Hairston, 27, of Martinsville was found injured in the car. He was treated and released from Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County, the news release said.
"There were several shots fired in and around" the car, which was registered in North Carolina, the release said. Authorities did not specify whether the gunfire caused the crash or whether there were any suspects.
