Shell casings, note found at Roanoke slaying scene

Police retrieved a .380-caliber handgun, ammunition and eight shell casings from the home of Heather Allen Solomon, according to a search warrant return filed in Roanoke Circuit Court last week.

Solomon, 44, was shot and killed Dec. 20 and her husband, 46-year-old Glenn William Solomon, has been charged with murder. The search warrant said he admitted to officers and to a relative he shot his wife.

The warrant return said police also found a note in the Solomons' home on Tennessee Avenue Northwest. Police spokeswoman Aisha Johnson declined Monday to say anything about the contents of the note, or to say how many times Heather Solomon was shot.

Glenn Solomon is scheduled for a March 4 hearing in Roanoke's Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court to decide if his case should be sent to a grand jury. The grand jury in turn would decide whether there is enough evidence to try the case in circuit court.
