Roanoke fire was deliberate
A Roanoke house fire that sent one person to the hospital Saturday was "intentionally set," an official said.
Crews were called to a house in the 1100 block of 12th Street Southeast about 8:30 a.m., spokeswoman Tiffany Bradbury said.
Smoke was pouring out of the front of the house when they arrived.
A person outside told firefighters that someone was still in the house, Bradbury said.
Firefighters rescued that person, who was taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation. The person's name was not released, and information on his or her condition was not available.
Investigators have a suspect but had not made an arrest Saturday.
The fire is estimated to have caused about $25,000 in damage, Bradbury said.
