Man arrested after altercation, stabbing
Salem police have arrested a man and charged him with malicious wounding after an incident early Friday.
Stephen Lee McBride, 23, of Salem was arrested at his home in the 500 block of Roanoke Boulevard about 10:30 a.m.
He is being held without bond in the Roanoke County-Salem Jail.
Investigators responded about 1 a.m. to the emergency room at Lewis-Gale Medical Center for a report of a stabbing victim, according to police.
Police Lt. Mike Green said a 37-year-old Roanoke man told police he had been visiting a friend at a residence in the 900 block of Delaware Street about 12:15 a.m. and had gotten into an altercation with another person. He was attacked with a knife and stabbed multiple times in the lower torso and abdomen, Green said.
According to police, the victim was driven to Lewis-Gale by his wife, who was also at the scene. He was treated for his injuries and released.
