Palin book signing in Roanoke on schedule
Former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin's book-signing event slated for Sunday in Roanoke has not been canceled by the publisher, despite online and local media reports on Wednesday to the contrary.
Deanna Lemburg, Barnes & Noble regional community relations manager, said confusion arose Tuesday and Wednesday because of a glitch in the store's computer system. The Valley View Mall store had rescheduled the event's start time to 10 a.m. and had to take down an original posting.
A Barnes & Noble Web site had announced Palin's Roanoke book signing for her new memoir, "Going Rogue: An American Life," canceled by the publisher on Tuesday night. The publisher, HarperCollins, didn't change its event announcement.
The inaccurate announcement was also reported on a Roanoke radio station and a television station Web site.
Those seeking to have their books signed on Sunday should bring an original receipt for purchasing "Going Rogue" from Barnes & Noble to receive a pass for the signing. Wristbands will be handed out at the store beginning at 6 a.m.
