Roanoke clinic to distribute seasonal flu vaccine today
The Roanoke City Health Department is holding a seasonal flu vaccination clinic today at its office at Campbell Avenue and Eighth Street Southwest.
The department, part of the Alleghany/Roanoke City Health Districts, has 174 free doses of seasonal flu vaccine available by appointment.
Both the seasonal flu vaccine and the H1N1 flu vaccine have been in short supply in recent weeks because of production delays by vaccine manufacturers. Health officials, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, have recommended that people receive both vaccinations this year.
The seasonal flu vaccination clinic will begin at 8:30 a.m. today and end at noon. The vaccine is for people 4 and older. For an appointment, call (540) 857-7634.
