Police are looking for a man who robbed a Southwest Roanoke pharmacy early Saturday morning.

It was the third late-night robbery of an area pharmacy in the past three weeks.

Officers responded about 3:30 a.m. Saturday to the CVS Pharmacy in the 2000 block of Colonial Avenue near Towers Shopping Center, police spokeswoman Aisha Johnson said. She said a man claimed to have a weapon and demanded prescription medication from the pharmacist. He fled with an undisclosed quantity of drugs. No one was hurt.

The suspect is described as a black male between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall. He wore a gray hooded sweat shirt, black gloves and light pants.

Anyone with information should call the Roanoke Police Department at 853-5959 or Crime Line at 344-8500.

On Oct. 27, Roanoke County police reported that a woman who claimed to have a gun stole prescription drugs from the Walgreens at Cave Spring Corners. On Nov. 7, at the Walgreens at Williamson and Hershberger roads, a man demanded money at the pharmacy counter and "obtained an undisclosed amount of items and left," Johnson said. Both of the previous robberies were reported at 2:20 a.m.

Roanoke County police Lt. Chuck Mason said investigators have tentatively identified a suspect in the Cave Spring Corners theft and said there did not appear to be a connection between that robbery and the others.
