Police searching for robbery suspect

Authorities are looking for a man who robbed a Rocky Mount bank Thursday morning.

Franklin County Sheriff Ewell Hunt said the incident occurred about 11:30 a.m. at the Franklin Community Bank in the 30 block of Shepherd Drive.

Hunt said a white male dressed entirely in black, wearing a dark ski mask and standing just over 6 feet tall entered the bank, showed a large semiautomatic handgun and left with an undisclosed amount of money.

There were no injuries, Hunt said.

He said the suspect left the bank in a dark colored Ford Explorer that displayed no rear license tag.

Virginia State Police said the vehicle was last seen headed south on U.S. 220.

Anyone with information about the robbery should call the Franklin County Sheriff's Office at 483-3000.
