Evening fire displaces 4
A couple and their two teenage children were displaced from their Southeast Roanoke home Monday night when flames damaged the back of their house.
The fire was reported about 8:20 p.m. When firefighters got to the two-story brick house in the 3500 block of Garden City Boulevard, flames were burning up the back of the house and smoke was coming out of the windows.
The Roanoke Fire Marshal's office is investigating, and a cause and damage estimate were not available Monday night, said Tiffany Bradbury, Roanoke Fire-EMS spokeswoman.
The family's name was not released. The Red Cross was assisting the family, Bradbury said.
