Co-workers shocked by Hardy woman's death

Kingery is described as a white male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, with blue eyes and blond hair. He may be driving a white 2004 Ford F-150 pickup with Virginia plates PAK-ROK.

While state police continue to search for a Hardy man accused of killing his wife, the staff and residents at Friendship Retirement Community mourn the loss of one of their own.
Rose Kingery and her husband, Philip A. Kingery, 48, were reported missing July 13. Her body was found Friday morning near their home on Coopers Cove Road.
Rose Kingery, 52, worked as a recreational leader in the retirement community's Health and Rehabilitation Center, said spokeswoman Kandy Elliott.
She was "a hard-worker" and "well respected," Elliott said in an e-mail to The Roanoke Times.
"At this time, our focus is on her family and our staff and residents who have such a fond memory of her," Elliott said.
Plans are in the works to provide support to those who knew Rose Kingery but nothing has been decided yet, she said.
Kene Wright, a former employee of Friendship Retirement Community, remembers Rose Kingery as "unique."
"She was very caring and giving," he said. "Once you met Rose you would never forget it because if she wanted something for her residents she would get it. She would do anything for her residents to make them happy."
Rose Kingery would organize church programs, luaus and the Santa gift-giving program every Christmas, he said.
Wright visited the retirement community Tuesday and said the atmosphere was solemn and most were shocked over the death.
As of Tuesday afternoon there was nothing new to report in the case, said state police spokesman Sgt. Rob Carpentieri.
