Authorities are suspecting arson after investigating an apartment building fire that occurred early Sunday.

Fire crews were called to the 700 block of Westwood Boulevard Northwest at 12:30 a.m. They ruled the fire under control at 12:45 a.m.

Ten people were in the apartment complex at the time of the fire, and all escaped without injury, fire officials said. The fire was contained to a bathroom. The blaze did approximately $3,500 in damage.

Because the incident is still under investigation, Roanoke Fire-EMS spokeswoman Tiffany Bradbury declined to say why investigators are calling it an arson.
