Roanoke police arrested four people Friday morning after a rash of thefts from vehicles in Southeast Roanoke.

Police were called to the 1000 block of Highland Avenue about 2:15 a.m., where a man said he had seen four people breaking into his neighbors' vehicles, police spokeswoman Aisha Johnson said.

The man confronted the suspects, who ran away.

Officers searched the area and found four people matching the suspects' description in an alley between the 1000 block of Highland and Murray avenues, Johnson said.

Police believe that those four people are responsible for stealing from four vehicles between Thursday night and early Friday morning, Johnson said. Three of the thefts happened in the 1000 block of Highland Avenue, and one happened in the 700 block of Elm Avenue.

Police have charged the following people:

Jacque T. Grayson, 29, of Roanoke is charged with three counts of tampering with a vehicle, two counts of petit larceny and possession of burglary tools.

David Rivera, 20, of Roanoke is charged with three counts of tampering with a vehicle and two counts of petit larceny.

Dereck Wayne Robinson, 19, of Roanoke is charged with four counts of tampering with a vehicle, two counts of petit larceny and possession of burglary tools.
