Roanoke police are investigating whether a traffic stop that led them to find several firearms, a mask and night vision binoculars is connected to two recent home invasions and an assault.

The first home invasion was reported on Morehead Avenue Southeast on June 14 shortly after 10 p.m., police spokeswoman Aisha Johnson said.

Two armed men wearing masks, gloves and black clothing entered the house.

According to a search warrant filed in Roanoke Circuit Court, one person was beaten with a baton. The men also fired shots inside and outside.

Victims and witnesses told police that they had seen a gold minivan with a broken taillight and a license plate holder that said "Brambleton Royal Imports."

On June 19, police received another report of a home invasion shortly before midnight on Wayne Street Northeast.

On Sunday, officers responded shortly after midnight to a call on Morwanda Avenue Northwest.

A man told police that he had been walking to a house when three men wearing ski masks ordered him to the ground and hit him on the head with a pistol, Capt. Curtis Davis said.

The victim fought back and the three men shot into a house and ran away, Davis said. No one was seriously injured.

A silver Honda minivan was seen at that incident, Davis said.

He said he doesn't believe that the intruders are choosing their victims at random, but he would not elaborate.

Shortly before midnight on Wednesday, an officer stopped a gold Honda minivan near the intersection of Williamson Road and Kimball Avenue, Davis said. The van had a broken taillight and a license plate holder that matched the description from the home invasions, a search warrant said.

According to the search warrant, two of the three men inside the van were armed with handguns. The third was found with a .223-caliber assault-style rifle with a scope. Next to him was a bag with a ski mask, duct tape, a baton, gloves and black pants. Officers also found a bulletproof vest and the binoculars.

Police charged Jeffrey Euzell White, 40, of Roanoke with assault on a law enforcement officer, obstruction of justice, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and assuming the name of another. He was also charged with two outstanding warrants, Davis said.

Harold Emanuel Anderson, 35, of Roanoke was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

No one has been charged in the other incidents.

White and Anderson are being held at the Roanoke City Jail without bond.
