Police charge Rocky Mount motorcyclist in Southwest Roanoke County crash
A Rocky Mount man was taken to a hospital Wednesday after his motorcycle struck another vehicle in Southwest Roanoke County, officials said.
The crash occurred just after 7:30 p.m. on Merriman Road near Penn Forest Elementary School, according to Officer C.A. Torzewski.
James Rice, 43, was riding a Honda motorcycle south on Merriman when he rounded a curve, crossed the centerline and struck a northbound Toyota Camry, Torzewski said.
Rice was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with injuries Torzewski said were not life-threatening. He was charged with failure to maintain control of his vehicle.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene, Torzewski said, but no one else was hurt.
