6 elementary schools to get new principals
Six of Roanoke's 18 elementary schools will get new principals in the fall after the closure of two elementary schools, according to a list from school administrators.
Oakland Intermediate and Raleigh Court Elementary closed for the last time this summer, leaving doubts about where their principals would end up. Oakland Principal Greg Johnston will lead Monterey Elementary and Raleigh Court's Babette Cribbs will move to Wasena Elementary, according to the list.
Ann Kreft, who had served as Monterey principal, will take over at Round Hill Primary, and Eric Fisher, formerly at Wasena, will move to Preston Park Elementary, which is taking in students from Oakland next school year.
Preston Principal Karen McClung will take over at Huff Lane Intermediate and Round Hill's Kathy Tate will move to Crystal Spring, rounding out the musical chairs.
Crystal Spring's David Merritt and Huff Lane's Dayl Graves retired this month.
