Man taken to hospital after Monday accident
A volunteer for the Troutville rescue squad was injured in a car accident early Monday, according to Virginia State Police.
Trooper L.A. Hubert said the crash happened about 12:15 a.m. on Lee Highway, near Mountain Pass Road.
Kevin Sweet, 38, of Troutville, was southbound when he lost control of his Saab sedan, struck a concrete barrier and went off the road into a ditch, Hubert said.
She said Sweet was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with injuries she believed were extensive but not life-threatening. His condition was not available Monday night.
Sweet was charged with failure to maintain control of his vehicle.
