The Franklin County Sheriff's Office has arrested a woman and her daughter charged in a bank robbery last year.

Amber Lynn Menke, 18, formerly of Franklin County, is charged with bank robbery. Menke was 17 at the time of the offense. Penny Sue Koehler, 43, formerly of Roanoke, is charged with accessory to a robbery.

On July 17, a woman believed to be Menke walked into the Boones Mill branch of Carter Bank and Trust and handed the teller a note demanding money, Lt. Steve McGuire said. She did not display a weapon.

The teller gave the woman about $4,500 in cash. When the woman left the building, employees saw her get into a sedan. Police believe that Koehler was driving, McGuire said.

The women were arrested last week in Las Vegas.

They are being held at the Clark County Detention Center and are awaiting extradition to Virginia.
