Sixth defendant pleads guilty to heroin charges

Another defendant pleaded guilty Monday in the ongoing federal prosecution of interlocked heroin distribution rings operating around Roanoke.

Paris Eugene Robinson was in U.S. District Court in Roanoke to plead guilty to conspiring to distribute heroin. He faces a minimum term of 10 years in prison when he comes up for sentencing on July 22.

Prosecutors have said Robinson worked with Robert Dwayne "Dollar Rob" Early to bring heroin into the area.

Early is accused of working in various combinations with Clifton Dwight "Lite" Lee, who pleaded guilty to heroin distribution last month, and Alvin Lewis Macauley, who has not yet been tried. Each man had a network of suppliers and dealers, investigators said.

Robinson was the sixth of 11 defendants in three linked heroin cases to plead guilty.

A three-day jury trial for Early is scheduled to begin this morning.
