Fire damages Roanoke County house
Fire heavily damaged a Roanoke County home Saturday morning but caused no injuries.
Crews responded to the 8000 block of Starlight Lane about 9:30 a.m., according to a news release. They arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the left side of the single-story house.
Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control within an hour, though the house sustained significant damage. It most likely will be considered a total loss, the release said.
One woman was able to escape without injury, but her two cats have not been found. The American Red Cross is assisting her.
Fire investigators were working Saturday to determine the cause of the blaze. A damage estimate was not immediately available
