Vinton man pleads no contest to pornography charges
A Vinton man pleaded no contest Wednesday in Roanoke County Circuit Court to one count of crimes against nature, one count of copying child pornography and four counts of producing child pornography.
According to evidence presented in court, Michael Douglas Kyte, 43, used a webcam to secretly record a teenage couple having sex. Vinton police learned of it after the boy involved reported it to a counselor at his school, said Vinton police investigator W.F. Sankbeil.
When police searched Kyte's home, they also found images of child pornography he had downloaded onto a computer and video recordings he made in his home of a woman and a dog having sexual relations. In one of the two videos, Kyte also participated, Sankbeil said.
The no contest plea means Kyte does not admit guilt but declines to fight the charges.
No agreement has been reached between the prosecution and defense as to what his punishment will be. His sentencing is scheduled for May 20.
Former Vinton resident Carmen Johnston, 43, faces trial March 25 on two charges of crimes against nature related to the case.
