Radford school bus driver charged in crash

Police have charged a school bus driver in Radford with following too closely in a crash that sent one woman to a hospital.

Judy Meyer, 33, of Radford, was charged after a crash in Radford about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, said Virginia State Police Sgt. Rob Carpentieri.

None of the 55 students in the bus was hurt, he said. It was unclear late Wednesday which school the students attend.

The accident happened when the bus was traveling east on Peppers Ferry Road near the Vickers Switch Road intersection behind a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass, Carpentieri said. Traffic slowed down and the bus struck the back of the Oldsmobile, he said.

The driver of the Oldsmobile, Angela Dean, 33, of Dublin, was taken to the New River Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening, Carpentieri said.
