Martinsville woman held in husband's stabbing

A Martinsville woman was arrested Sunday and charged with stabbing her husband several times at their home.

Police got a call about 6:45 a.m. from Carlton Eugene Eanes Jr., 50, who said that his wife had stabbed him, city spokesman Scott Coleman said.

When police arrived, they found Carolyn Eanes in the living room holding a steak knife. Carlton Eanes was on the floor with multiple stab wounds, Coleman said.

He was taken to Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County and was later transferred to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C., where he underwent surgery. He was in intensive care on Monday, Coleman said.

Carolyn Eanes, 64, is charged with malicious wounding. She is being held at the Martinsville City Jail without bond.
