Fiery Botetourt wreck kills teen
Residents near the site of the early morning crash arrived and helped rescue two people from the car.

One person died and two others were injured after a fiery wreck in Botetourt County early Wednesday morning, Virginia State Police said.
Patrick T. Kay, 18, of Daleville, was killed when the 1997 Honda Civic he was driving crashed and caught fire, said state police spokesman Sgt. Rob Carpentieri.
Kay was traveling northbound on U.S. 11, just north of Gravel Hill Road in Troutville about 12:30 a.m., Carpentieri said.
He entered a curve and lost control, crossed into the southbound lanes and then swerved back into the northbound lanes. He over-corrected and went over the right shoulder. The car overturned and caught fire.
Kay was partly ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, Carpentieri said.
Robert Clark, 46, lives across the street from where the wreck happened and was awakened by squealing tires followed by a loud bang.
He ran outside to find the car in flames, he said.
Clark, a paramedic with the Troutville rescue squad, pulled one of the passengers, Ethan Kyle Jones, 19, of Botetourt County, from the car and helped him across the street.
Then he freed another passenger, a female juvenile whose name police did not release because of her age.
The girl was pinned between the car and a tree limb, Clark said.
"I was doing everything I could to get both me and her away from the fire," he said.
Another neighbor came out to help, and they got the girl out of the car before it became completely engulfed in flames, Clark said.
Jones and the girl were taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Jones was discharged Wednesday, hospital spokesman Eric Earnhart said.
The girl's condition was unavailable, but Clark said she had suffered smoke inhalation.
Investigators were still working to determine if the occupants were wearing seat belts.
Kay's and Jones' families could not be reached Wednesday.
