Covington woman dies after crash on Interstate 64
A Covington woman was killed Tuesday morning in a multivehicle wreck on Interstate 64 in Alleghany County, Virginia State Police said.
Kristi Humphreys, 25, of Covington died just before 8 a.m. at Alleghany Regional Hospital, said Sgt. B.D. Olha.
Humphreys was driving east on I-64 about 6 a.m. when she hit a patch of black ice on the Island Ford Bridge near mile marker 19, Olha said.
Her 1997 Dodge Neon spun out, hit a wall and came to rest on the road. A tractor-trailer that was behind Humphreys struck the car, pushing it back to the wall.
Moments later, an eastbound Subaru also hit the Neon, Olha said.
Humphreys was wearing a seat belt. No one else was injured.
