Police responded to an attempted robbery near a Roanoke County bowling alley early Sunday morning, according to Detective C.S. Welch.

Roanoke County police responded to the 5900 block of Williamson Road shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday. An employee at Hilltop Lanes told police that he was leaving after closing when he was approached by a man in the parking lot, Welch said.

The man demanded money from the employee, who refused to give it to him. The two were then involved in a brief altercation before the man fled. The employee was not seriously injured, Welch said.

Charges are pending and no arrests have been made. Police are continuing to investigate, Welch said.
