Roanoke Co. man charged with rape, abduction
A Roanoke County man has been charged in an abduction and rape that occurred Saturday night in Roanoke County, police said.
Detective P.L. Farris said Roanoke County police responded shortly after 6 p.m. to a domestic disturbance complaint involving a weapon in the 8300 block of Barrens Road.
Upon arrival, officers found a woman who reported that she and her 6-year-old daughter had been held at gunpoint in the home of the child's father while trying to get property from him. While inside the home, the woman was bound and raped, Farris said.
The woman escaped from the man's home by striking him with a bottle, taking the gun and fleeing to a neighbor's house with her child, where the police were called, Farris said.
The officers located Billy M. Sloane, who had injuries consistent with the woman's account. Sloane was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
He was later arrested and charged with abduction, rape and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. He is being held in the Roanoke County-Salem Jail without bond, Farris said.
The woman was also taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and the child was not injured, Farris said.
