Police investigate robbery of pizza delivery driver

The latest in a string of incidents involving Domino's drivers happened Friday night.

Roanoke police are looking for the person who robbed a pizza delivery driver Friday night.

The Domino's Pizza driver told police that he had just finished making a delivery and was in his vehicle in the 400 block of Harrison Avenue Northwest when a male approached him, said police spokeswoman Aisha Johnson.

The culprit brandished a gun, obtained an undisclosed amount of money and fled on foot.

The driver was not hurt. He drove to the 400 block of Madison Avenue, where he called police just before 11 p.m.

The robber is described as a black male between 15 and 20 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build. He was clean-shaven and wearing a black hooded sweat shirt and blue jeans.

Earlier this month, a Domino's delivery driver was robbed in Southwest Roanoke.

Officers were called at 5:15 p.m. Oct. 4 to the 2000 block of Patterson Avenue

A delivery driver told police that she was delivering a pizza when a man brandished a gun and told her to go into a vacant house, Johnson said.

The victim complied, and the man and two others took the pizza and the driver's money.

The driver was not hurt.

The men were described as white males. The man who brandished the gun was described as being in his 20s, about 6 feet tall and about 170 pounds. He was wearing all black and had a black bandanna over his face. The second suspect is described as being in his 20s, about 6 feet tall and 160 to 170 pounds. The third suspect is described as having a heavy build and an unshaven face with acne.

In August, police charged a Roanoke man with robbing a Domino's driver, and in July, a Domino's driver told police he stopped a robbery by assaulting the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call Roanoke police at 853-5959 or Crime Line at 344-8500.
