A 16-year-old boy died in a single-vehicle wreck in Patrick County on Sunday afternoon, state police said.

Sgt. Rob Carpentieri said that Gregory Scott Martin Jr. of Stuart died in a crash about 2:15 p.m.

Another 16-year-old boy was driving a 2000 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck south on Virginia 680 when he crashed a mile north of Virginia 58. Police are not releasing the driver's name because of his age, Carpentieri said.

The driver was traveling south on Virginia 680 when he ran off the right side of the road and then the left side. The vehicle then struck some concrete and overturned, police said.

Carpentieri said it was not clear whether Martin was wearing a seat belt. The wreck remains under investigation.
