Man gets 30 years for molesting girl
An Alleghany County Circuit Court judge has sentenced a Covington man to serve 30 years of a 150-year sentence for sexually molesting an 11-year-old girl.
Jason Wade Lundquist, 32, pleaded guilty in May to three counts of animate object sexual penetration and two counts of aggravated sexual battery, said Deputy Alleghany County Commonwealth's Attorney Ann Gardner.
Judge Michael Irvine levied Lundquist's sentence Tuesday morning.
Lundquist and the girl's mother first met over the Internet about five years ago, when both lived in another state. Lundquist told the woman that he had lost his 10-year-old son in a motorcycle accident. Out of sympathy, she allowed him to move in with her, Gardner said.
In 2006, when the couple lived in Covington, Lundquist began molesting the woman's 11-year-old daughter. The behavior continued until the girl was 12, Gardner said.
The girl told a friend what was happening. The friend's mother suggested that the girl should tell a guidance counselor at school. When she did, the counselor notified Covington police, who arrested Lundquist in October.
Lundquist eventually admitted to molesting the girl, Gardner said, and admitted that he made up the story about having a son who died in a wreck. "It was all a lie," the prosecutor said.
Gardner said she argued in court that Lundquist duped the woman in order take advantage of her and to gain access to her child.
Lundquist's attorney, David Davis, could not be reached late Wednesday afternoon.
