Remembering the triumph of a schoolgirl

More than 4,000 people gathered in Capitol Square in Richmond on Monday to dedicate a memorial statue and to celebrate the courage of Barbara Johns and other students who walked out of inferior, segregated classrooms in Prince Edward County in 1951 in what ultimately helped lead to the legal decision compelling the desegregation of public schools.
