Pizza driver thwarts would-be robber
A pizza delivery driver fended off an attempted mugging Sunday night in Southeast Roanoke, according to police.
Police spokeswoman Aisha Johnson said a Domino's Pizza employee was making a delivery in the 1700 block of Rutrough Road when he was approached by a man who demanded money. The driver told police he assaulted the would-be robber and fled in his car. The driver reported the incident about 11:30 p.m. and said no money was taken.
The victim described the suspect as a white male in his 20s with dark hair in a ponytail, Johnson said. The suspect was not wearing a shirt and had a tattoo of the Grim Reaper on his chest. The victim said that someone was with the suspect.
