A Rocky Mount man died Saturday night after a motorcycle wreck.

Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Rob Carpentieri said that Donald Phyllow Ledbetter Jr., 39, was riding a 1997 Harley-Davidson on Trail Drive when he lost control of the motorcycle, ran off the road and struck a utility pole north of State Street in Rocky Mount. The accident happened about 8 p.m.

Ledbetter was taken to Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital, where he died, Carpentieri said.

Carpentieri said that Ledbetter was wearing a helmet and the accident remains under investigation.
