Three Roanoke men arrested following assault
Authorities arrested three Roanoke men Monday morning after a house in Northwest Roanoke was broken into and a resident was assaulted, police said.
Roanoke police charged John Henry Conner Jr., 22, with breaking and entering with intent to commit assault in connection with an incident Monday in the 1100 block of 22nd Street, police spokeswoman Aisha Johnson said. Police received the call at 1:15 a.m.
Two other men, whose names were not available Monday night, were charged with assault as well as with breaking and entering with intent to commit assault, Johnson said.
The suspects and the victim, Christopher Lee, knew one another, Johnson said. The incident stemmed from a previous argument, she said.
Lee told investigators that four people came into the house and that one of them assaulted him, according to a search warrant filed Monday in Roanoke Circuit Court. He told police he heard a gunshot inside the home. Investigators later found a bullet hole in an air conditioner of the home, the search warrant said.
Lee saw some of the suspects leave in a burgundy Cadillac, the search warrant said. When the Cadillac pulled out, it struck a vehicle on the street.
Investigators later found a burgundy Cadillac with fresh damage on its right front side in front of Conner's home in the 100 block of 1012 Street Southeast, the search warrant said.
