A Roanoke County man was charged following a crash Sunday near Tanglewood Mall that sent two people to the hospital.

Roanoke County police Officer J.R. Crottf said Joseph Young was charged with reckless driving after his Ford F-150 truck rear-ended a Mercedes-Benz with four people inside as both vehicles were traveling south on Electric Road. The accident happened about 1:30 p.m.

The truck hit the Mercedes after it had stopped at a traffic light at Electric Road and Elm View Road, Crottf said.

Patricia Longmire, 47, and Lydia Longmire, 18, who were both in the Mercedes, were taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, Crottf said.

Alcohol was not a factor and all those involved were wearing seat belts, Crottf said.
