Pedestrian killed Friday is identified
Adrian Boguniecki didn't have a driver's license and walked to his job at a grocery store.
Police have identified a man fatally struck Friday afternoon in Northwest Roanoke as Adrian John Boguniecki, 23.
Police spokeswoman Aisha Johnson said the Roanoke man was struck by an eastbound Dodge Ram pickup truck in the 3500 block of Hershberger Road.
Boguniecki was pronounced dead at the scene, Johnson said.
No charges have been filed and an investigation is ongoing.
Adrian was the only child of Henry and Kathleen Boguniecki, who said that he didn't have a driver's license and often walked.
Adrian Boguniecki started working at Kroger Town Square six weeks ago and worked six nights a week.
"He walked to work every night and I worried every night," his mother said. "I hated that he had to walk."
"This happened during the day and it just blew our mind," she added.
Adrian Boguniecki graduated from Northside High School in 2004. He used to repair bicycles at Wal-Mart, his mother said, had taught himself guitar and knew how to play songs just from listening to them.
Kathleen Boguniecki said that her son had been maturing and reaching out more to his parents.
"Lately he just seemed to be more appreciative and wanted to spend more time with us," she said.
She said that she hadn't received any further details about the accident.
"We just had to wait all weekend," she said. "It's been torture."
"He's going to be sorely missed," she added.
