Man suspected in pharmacy break-ins
Police say someone used large rocks to break into two Botetourt County businesses.
A Blue Ridge man has been arrested in connection with pharmacy break-ins in Botetourt County, officials said.
Scott Mitchell, 32, was arrested at his home Thursday night and charged with two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of grand larceny and one attempted breaking and entering, according to Sheriff Ronnie Sprinkle.
On May 5, someone stole prescription drugs from Cundiff Blue Ridge Pharmacy in the 1600 block of Blue Ridge Boulevard in Troutville, Sprinkle said in a news release.
The thief gained entry by throwing a large rock through one of its windows. On May 15, a second, similar break-in was attempted at the same location but failed because the rock used was not large enough, Sprinkle said.
On Monday, the Down Home Pharmacy in Botetourt was broken into by the same method, and money and drugs were taken, Sprinkle said. He said some of the drugs reported missing were found at Mitchell's residence.
Mitchell's hearing is scheduled for June 11 in Botetourt County General District Court.
