TODAY
Sixth Annual Veterans Memorial Day Program
Recognizing local veterans of all wars featuring 16th- and 17th-century dress, the Air Force JROTC color guard, a rifle salute and more. 10 a.m. Franklin County Courthouse lawn, 275 S. Main St., Rocky Mount. fchistory@swva.net.
"Moonlight Serenade"
Featuring Rick Dellinger and Keith Campbell (7 to 8 p.m.) performing period tunes and the Jefferson Choral Society (8 to 9 p.m.) with a program of Cole Porter songs and patriotic music. After the concert, the memorial will remain open for nighttime viewing. Roanoke's annual Memorial Day service
10:30 a.m. at Lee Plaza, Church Avenue and Second Street Southwest.
Radford's Ninth Annual Memorial Day Service
With patriotic music by the Radford High School band, a traditional 21-gun salute, featured speaker Radford Army Ammunition Plant commander Lt. Col. Jon Drushal, a reading of the names of the 60 Radford veterans who gave their lives in battles, and more. Free. 11 a.m. Bisset Park gazebo, 1125 Norwood St., Radford. 633-0081.
"Remembering Their Sacrifice"
To observe Memorial Day, the National D-Day Memorial will have a wreath-laying ceremony to pay tribute to those who have given their lives in service to our nation. Presentation of the Colors
