Blaze destroys Southeast Roanoke home

Readin goes here and here and here 4 decks please.

A house in Southeast Roanoke was destroyed by fire early Thursday morning, but officials said there were no injuries.

Roanoke Fire-EMS spokeswoman Tiffany Bradbury said crews were called about 7:30 a.m. to a two-story house in the 700 block of Tazewell Avenue. When they arrived they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the building, but they had the blaze under control shortly before 8 a.m.

No one was in the house, Bradbury said, adding that she was not sure if anyone resided there.

"It had a lot of fire damage, smoke and water," she said, and estimated there was about $30,000 worth of damage. "It's pretty much a total loss."

The cause of the fire is still unknown and remains under investigation.
