Teen dies in Franklin County crash
A Rocky Mount teenager died Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident, Virginia State Police reported.
Justin Elwood Hodges, 18, was traveling south on Virginia 919 in Franklin County, on his way home from work, when his 1994 Ford Probe ran off the road to the right, Trooper J.T. Haynes said.
Hodges then overcorrected, Haynes said, and the vehicle traveled approximately 300 feet before leaving the road to the left, going over a bank and hitting a tree. Hodges was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hodges was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and was alone in the vehicle.
State police are investigating.
Hodges was a 2006 graduate of Franklin County High School and a student at Virginia Western Community College.
